4100 Series Boom Angle Indicators

Our 4100 series mechanical boom angle indicators are all-weather and will not rust, freeze, or otherwise “hang-up” like old-fashioned metal pendulum styles. Like all of our instruments, the boom angle indicators are properly dampened for smooth reliable readings.

The housing is designed for easy mounting with two screws, allowing for quick and efficient retrofitting in the field. With bright, long-lasting LEDs, the backlit models are highly visible for increased safety, especially at night! The 4120 inclinometers are recommended for use on any boom where quick, accurate inclination measurements must be taken under difficult conditions and harsh environments.

Typical boom angle indicators applications include aerial lifts, truck-mounted boom cranes, any fire truck with a mounted boom or ladder, telescoping off-road variable reach forklifts, cranes, and derricks.

Mechanical Inclinometers are instruments for measuring angles of slope and inclination of an object with respect to its gravity by creating an artificial horizon. It is also known as a tilt sensor, tilt indicator, slope meter, slope gauge, gradient meter, gradiometer, level gauge & level meter. An inclinometer is commonly used in different industries like Aviation, civil engineering, Government, Marine, Military, and Transportation for platform leveling, boom angle indication, and slope angle measurement. The tilt angle range is the range of desired linear output measured in degrees. Important specifications to consider when searching for tilt sensors and inclinometers are the tilt angle range and number of axes.

FAQs About Boom Angle Indicators

How Are Boom Angle Indicators Used On Boom Cranes?

Boom angle indicators help operators measure the angle of a boom relative to level ground. This information is essential for determining safe load limits and maintaining stability during lifting operations. By providing a clear visual reference of boom position, these indicators help prevent unsafe boom extension and support safer equipment operation.
Rieker’s 4100 Series Boom Angle Indicators provide smooth, accurate readings in harsh weather and demanding job site conditions, making them well suited for boom trucks, derrick cranes, aerial lifts, and other boom-equipped equipment.

Can Boom Angle Indicators Be Installed On Truck-Mounted Equipment?

Yes. The 4100 series boom angle indicators are easy to mount on boom trucks, truck-mounted cranes, and aerial lifts.  The units mount with just two screws, allowing for quick and straightforward installation on boom structures. An optional bright, backlit display improves visibility in low-light or nighttime operations, helping operators clearly read boom angle information and maintain safe equipment operation.

Are These Boom Angle Indicators Suitable For Harsh Weather Conditions?

Yes. The 4100 Series mechanical boom angle indicators feature an IP68-rated sealed housing, providing protection against dust, water, and harsh outdoor conditions. They are designed for reliable operation in rain, freezing temperatures, and other demanding environments.
The ball-in-tube inclinometer design provides smooth, dependable angle indication and avoids the sticking or “hang-up” issues sometimes associated with traditional pendulum-style inclinometers.
